Abstract

The Diversity Club was founded in 1887 as a club for women who worked at 14 Beacon Street, and they disbanded in 1969. The club hosted dinners, parties, and events with skits and musical comedies. This collection contains meeting minutes, constitutions, financial records, correspondence, songs, poems, scripts, photographs and other memorabilia.

Abstract

Founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1817, the Graham Society was an all-female benevolent society that provided clothing to students and seminaries at the Phillips Academy and Andover Theological Seminary, both in Andover, Massachusetts. The Graham Society records include the official records of the society, including founding documents, meeting minutes, and officer lists, membership lists, member donation records, and correspondence with an Amherst sewing circle.

Abstract

A Congregational church was officially formed in Halifax in 1734, with 53 founding members. A second meeting house was built in 1852. In 1842 a Ladies Sewing Circle was organized and continued to be central to church life. The Halifax Congregational Church is now a member of the United Church of Christ, and continues to serve the community today. This collection consists of early administrative records for the Congregational Church and the associated parish in Halifax.

Abstract Haverhill was first settled by Puritans in 1640. Rev. John Ward was officially installed as the pastor of the First Parish in 1645 and the first meeting house was constructed in 1648. Abstract The First Congregational Church of Jamestown first gathered in 1816. They would join the Presbyterian Church from 1818 until 1835. From then on, they were members of Congregationalist Church and also became a member of the UCC. Abstract William Francis Sayles gathered together 36 residents of Moshassuck (later Saylesville) in June 1860. At first they organized the Friends' District Union Sabbath School, which would be become Sayles Memorial Church. Mr. Sayles had originally opened the school for his employees' children but in 1873 decided to build Sayles Memorial Chapel.
