Historical Note

The Free Evangelical Congregational Church was gathered in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1843. At the time, the church may have also been known as the Fourth Street Church. In 1945, the name of the church was changed to Hope Street Church. In 1950, the church merged with the Second Presbyterian Church of Providence. The Hope Street Church building became new home of the merged church. The church still exists today as the Providence Presbyterian Church.

The Free Evangelical Congregational Church was gathered in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1843. In 1945, the name of the church was changed to Hope Street Church. In 1950, the church merged with the Second Presbyterian Church of Providence. The church still exists today as the Providence Presbyterian Church. This collection contains vital membership records and administrative records and includes vital statistics, meeting minutes, and governance documents.
