Abstract In 1743 the Second North Housatonic Parish of Sheffield was gathered with Rev. Samuel Hopkins as the first minister. The first meeting house was completed by 1743. In 1761 the North Parish of Sheffield was incorporated as the town of Great Barrington and the church was renamed to the First Congregational Church of Great Barrington. In 1769 Rev. Hopkins was dismissed after both financial and religious difficulties between him and the parish community. The second meeting house was constructed...

Sioux Association of Congregational Churches records, 1871-1927.

Abstract

The history of the Sioux Association's is not completely known. The records indicate that the group formed in 1871 and continued to function as of 1927, although it is not known the exact date the association ceased. Members of the Sioux Association formed an offshot called the Cherokee Association in 1899. The records in this collection include meeting minutes, list of members, finances and other operational paperwork.

Abstract The First Christian Union Church and Society were formed in the Pottersville, Somerset area as early as 1838 by a "Christian Band" comprising thirty members, though the church was not officially incorporated until 1911. In 1939 the name was changed to the Congregational Christian Church of Somerset Centre. These records consists of three bound volumes, including the earliest record books of the church and society, respectively, and a book of meeting minutes and bylaws of the Ladies'...
