Abstract The town of Lancaster and the First Congregational Church in Lancaster were established on November 28, 1653. The first and second meeting houses both were destroyed during Native American raids as part of larger geopolitical movements. The third meeting house was constructed in 1706 and the fourth in 1743. The Washburn Congregational Church was gathered in the summer of 1895 in Half Day, Illinois. Due to the changes of town borders, the church existed in Half Day, Prairie View, and then finally Lincolnshire. The church closed around 2011. This collection contains both administrative and membership records and includes meeting minutes, vital records, auxiliary club records, and scrapbooks.
