This collection consists of correspondence, narratives, manuscripts, photographs, biographical materials, diaries, and other papers related to Iain C. G. Campbell, Gladys Perry Campbell, and Dorothy Blatter Ross. For Gladys and Dorothy, most of the material is related to their service as ABCFM missionaries. Also includes information pertaining to Iain Campbell's activities as an archeologist and teacher in Turkey and his return to the U.S., manuscripts and drawings by Dorothy Blatter Ross and reports related to the Nebraska Conference.

Biographical Note

Iain C. G. Campbell was born in St. Albans, England on June 15, 1912. He graduated from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 1935. He was ordained as a Congregationalist in Omaha, NE in June 1952. He served as pastor in Albion, NE from 1950-1970, Fairmont, NE from 1957-1958, Weeping Water in NE, 1958-1974 and was a pastor emeritus from 1974-1997. He died in Lincoln, NE on December 22, 1997. Iain, an archaeologist and teacher, met missionary Gladys Perry Campbell in Turkey. Gladys worked for the American Board of Commissions for Foreign Missions, working in Istanbul and Merzifon. The two would get married in Izmir, Turkey in 1943. They returned to the United States in 1947 and settled in Nebraska, where Iain became a Congregational minister. Gladys worked in Turkey alongside her friend, Dorothy Blatter Ross. Ross served the mission in Merzifon and Istanbul, writing many children's books. She would return to the United States for good in 1967 and married Frank Ross in 1968. They would both settle in Kansas City.
