The Summerdale Congregational Church formed in 1899 out of a Sunday school that met in the Summerdale railway station. A year later, the Summerdale Congregational Church was organized. The records include correspondence, treasurer’s reports and receipts, church and committee minutes, and vital records.

Abstract Tabernacle Congregational Church was gathered on May 27, 1866 following the consolidation of two schools originally founded in 1857 and attached to the First Congregational Church. The church was first gathered in 1876 under the leadership of Andrew Brotherstone. In 1894, the Waveland Avenue Congregationalist Church officially joined the associated Chicago area Congregationalist churches. In 1961, the church joined the United Church of Christ. The church served its community until 1982 when it permanently closed. The collection includes board reports, financial records, and administrative records.
