Abstract

The Congregational Church of Grafton traces its roots back to a church established in 1671 in what was then known as Hassanamisco Plantation (now Hassanamesit Reservation). In 1731 the body that would become known as the Congregational Church of Grafton was gathered, and four years later the town of Grafton was founded. The collection contains records of vital statistics, church membership, ordination, ecclesiastical councils, church meetings, and correspondence.

Abstract The origins of South Congregational Church start in 1874 when women from the Park Avenue Congregational Church organized a Sunday School. This would eventually lead to a "Mr. Gilbert" donating land for construction of a chapel. The new chapel was located between Sheldon and Jefferson on Delaware Street and finished in 1876. Abstract The Lincoln Park Sunday School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was formed in 1894. The Barker Memorial Branch Church was formed out of the Sunday school in 1896. The church moved locations in 1906 and was renamed to Wallin Congregational Church. The church was remodeled in 1947. The church began searching for land to build a new church in 1958 and that effort was concluded in 1964 when a new church building was constructed. Abstract The First Church of Christ in Granville was gathered in 1744, and Moses Tuttle was ordained as the first minister in 1747. The first meeting house was constructed during Tuttle’s ministry. Timothy Mather Cooley, a Granville native, was called to become the minister of the First Church of Christ in 1795 and he served as the pastor for 63 years.
