Overview The National Council of the Congregational Christian Churches of the United States was the denominational name was officially established in 1878 and renamed General Council of Congregational Christian Churches after the 1931 merger with the Christian Denomination. Collection includes material about the Layman's Advisory Committee, autographs of delegates from an annual meeting, Catechism commission, letters, meeting minutes and material from the Committee on Research.
Overview Reverend Robert Henry Davis was born in Frederica, Delaware on August 28, 1944. He graduated with a B.A. and M.A. from Amherst College and Bangor Seminary in 1871. He would be offically ordained in 1872. In 1878 he went to work in Japan as a foerign missionary. He would be there for 8 years until returning hope in December of 1886. Overview Leonard Woods was born in Princeton, Massachusetts and eventually graduated from Harvard in 1796. He was ordained at Second Church of West Newbury, Massachusetts on December 5, 1798; He held onto that position until May 25, 1808 to become Professor of Theology at the Andover seminary and stayed there until his resignation in 1846.
