Historical Note

According to the 1902 Constitution and By-Laws, the purpose of the Union was: “To aid in the organization and support of Congregational churches and Sunday schools in the city of Detroit, both by furnishing buildings for such churches and schools and means for defraying the expenses of conducting the same; also to encourage among the members of our churches a more friendly and intimate acquaintance and promote their spiritual intellectual culture. “The membership of the Union shall consist of delegates from each Congregational church in the city of Detroit.”
