Historical Note

The Pilgrim Memorial Church was established in 1897. The church is currently still active and part of the United Church of Christ.

Biographical note

James Edgar Gregg was born in Hartford, Connecticut, November 24, 1875. He attended Harvard for his BA and Yale Divinity School for seminary. He was ordained a Congregational minister by the Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1903 and served the Pilgrim Memorial church from 1903-1909. He went on to serve other churches in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. He married Pauline Plumpelly in 1903. She died in 1911. They had two children, Elyse and James. Gregg's second wife was Mary Livingstone Hinsdale. They had two children, Theodore and Gerald. Gregg died in Pittsfield, February 23, 1946.
