The collection consists of a leather-bound 3-ring binder celebrating the church's 25th anniversary, including letters of congratulation, bulletins, news clippings, photographs, histories. There is also a folder commemorating Joseph Goodwin's life, stained glass windows at the church, and the church's 50th anniversary.

Biographical Note:

Joseph T. Goodwin was a member of the Rutherford Congregational Church. He served as deacon and was named emeritus deacon after his term of service was over. He died in 1963. His family memorialized Joesph and his wife, Mabel, with stained glass windows in the Rutherford Congregational Church i 1964.

Historical Note

The Rutherford Congregational Church had its roots in a Union Sabbath School in concert with the First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford in 1893. The church did not officially establish until 1907. The church remains active as a member of the United Church of Christ.

This collection was created by the Goodwin family and features the Rutherford, New Jersey 25th anniversary scrapbook and momentos kept by the Goodwins memorializing Jospeh: his obituary, information about the memorial stained glass windows, and memorial tribute from the Rutherford Board of Deacons.


Original order has been maintained for this collection.

This collection was kept by the Goodwin family and donated to the Congregational Library & Archives, October 2017, by Thomas Goodwin.
