This collection consists of articles of faith, constitutions, meeting minutes, lists of participants, and financial information, correspondence, ministerial standing, and a scrapbook. The Middlesex South Ministerial Association volume also has Middlesex South Association and Middlesex Mendon Association records.

Historical Note

The Mendon Association was established in 1783. The Middlesex Union was established in 1827. The Middlesex South Conference of Churches was organized in 1828. The Middlesex South Association of Ministers was established in 1830. The Middlesex Mendon Association merged the separate groups in 1933. In 1970, Central Association brought together Brookfield, Middlesex Mendon, Middlesex Union, and Worcester Associations. Central remains an active Association within the Massachusetts Conference.

Abstract

This collection consists of articles of faith, constitutions, meeting minutes, lists of participants, and financial information, correspondence, ministerial standing, and a scrapbook. The Middlesex South Ministerial Association volume also has Middlesex South Association and Middlesex Mendon Association records.

Arrangement

The collection is divided between 5 series: Mendon, Middlesex Union, Middlesex South, North Middlesex Branch of the Woman's Board of Missions, and Middlesex Mendon. The contents of the series are arranged by topics and within topics, chronologically.

Physical Access

The record cartons are heavy: staff should proceed with care. The text blocks on the volumes are strong, but the leather covers are deteriorating; proceed with care.

Acquisition Information

Mendon records donated by Robert I. Howland, 1955. Middlesex South records donated by the Association in 1932. Middlesex Union and North Middlesex Branch of the Woman's Board of Missions were donated with Fitchburg, Mass. (RG5368) records in 2018.

Accruals

An accrual is expected to be added for Middlesex Union and Middlesex South records to this collection via a Fitchburg congregation in 2018.
