Historical Note

The Metropolitan Boston Association (MBA), part of the Massachusetts Conference, United Church of Christ, was created in 1964 from the merger of the Suffolk North, Suffolk South, Suffolk West, and Woburn Associations. The purpose was to “unify denominational forces in the Greater Boston for more effective services and cooperation with other denominations.” Individual churches maintain membership in the Association until they close, decide to leave or remain independent, or merge with another church. For several decades, the MBA was headquartered at 14 Beacon Street. When it moved offices, the MBA deposited additional files.
