Scope and Contents

Types of materials include: ecclesiastical records, reports, minutes of meetings, missionary-related, membership, ordinations, installations, dismissals, correspondence, meeting programs, and policies. If there was a clean line of demarcation before the 1852 split, those materials are in the Berkshire series. If separating the material was impossible, it will be found with Berkshire South, which maintained the pre-split records until they were donated to this organization.

Historical Note

The Berkshire Association was formed in 1763, and because of its large size separated into two distinct organizations in October 1852: Berkshire North Association and Berkshire South Association. The current iteration of the Association is still active and part of the Massachusetts Conference UCC Western region.
