The General Council of the Congregational Christian Church Records contain correspondence, meetings, minutes, reports, photographs, and records of the activities of the General Council and its members. Member church conference and association constitutions, by-laws, requests, and reports are documented within the collection. It also contains a large amount of correspondence from Douglas Horton, Fred Hoskins, and Stanley North; other key figures of the General Council are represented in smaller quantities. Contained within the General Council Records are the correspondence, reports, minutes, votes, and resolutions on the merger with the Evangelical Reform and the process of accepting or rejecting the Basis of Union. The Cadmen Memorial Church versus Helen Kenyon trial is documented from correspondence, legal briefs, and court decisions. The General Council Records documents the involvement of the Congregational Christian Churches with other national and international faith organizations. This includes correspondence, publications, and reports on the World Council of Churches, the International Congregational Council, National Council of Churches of Christ of the United States, Conservative Congregational Christian Church, American Bible Society, Church of South India, and others. A portion of the collection also contains records of precursor and successor governing bodies of the General Council. A portion of reports, minutes, and correspondence from the National Council of Congregational Churches is included, as well Christian Church publications, records, minutes, and correspondence leading up to the merger with the Congregational Church to create the Congregational Christian Church
