Scope and Contents
Series II details the specifics surrounding the Basis of Union that was the first proposal for merging the church bodies. The Series includes correspondence and reports on the historical background of the Congregational Christian Church and the Evangelical and Reformed Church; discussion of how to educate the congregations on the postivies of the union; correspondence and research on how the new church will be organized and how to merge the existing councils; reports on votes taken. The Series also contains correspondence and legal documentation on the Cadman v. Kenyon case, First Congregational et al. v. The Evangelical and Reformed Church, and the Andover Newton case.
