Scope and Contents

Scrapbook 6, 1875-1902 includes correspondence concerning individual items in Pratt's collection, a petition from the Bible Societies' Committee for Japan, lithographs of Christian history, the obituary of Dr. Henry A. Hazen, an anniversary pamphlet on Martin Luther and the Reformation along with an undated manuscript of a sermon by Martin Luther, a copy of the Peking Gazette dated 1874, and clippings concerning Pratt's second wife, inlcuding her poem "No Souls: Women have no souls" published in "Life and Light" magazine, an account of her work as the Secretary of the Woman's Board of Missions, and [possibly] her photograph. The scrapbook also contains clippings on manuscripts from the British and Foreign Bible Society, Pratt's exhibition catalogue, and Joesph Parker. There are also several photographs and engravings, including the Congregational Library, the "Biblearium" at the Congregational Library, Mount Vernon Church, acquaintances from the Congregational Sunday School Publishing Society, missionaries of the American Sunday School Union, Pratt's Cape Cod and Brookside homes, notable female missionaries, and various individuals, including J. Sartain, Henry Field, Lyman Whiting, Edward N. Kirk, William Tucker, and August Neander.

Correspondents present in scrapbook 6 include Susan B. Anthony, Phillip Brooks, Bishop of Massachusetts, Edwards A. Park, Selah Merrill, United States Consulate in Jerusalem, Chester Holcombe, J.H. Thayer, professor of the New Testament at Harvard Divinity, Henry Clay Trumbull of the Sunday School Times, Caspar Rene Gregory, Joseph Parker, and A.E. Kithey.
