Historical Note
Cragin Congregational Church opened in 1883 in Chicago's North End. Before the church, a Sunday-School had opened in the area in 1879 by A. J. Nowlen. Throughout its history, the church remained small, opening with only 15 members. In contrast, the Sunday-school had many times the members of the Cragin church. Most of the church's financial support came from the Chicago City Missionary Society as the church itself found difficulty sustaining itself. The church closed in 1963.
