Abstract
The first meeting of the Woman’s Home Missionary Association was held on November 4, 1879 and the organization was formally chartered on September 28, 1881. The association was founded to support the needs of women and children and was supported by both individual membership and auxiliary groups. The association supported mission-based work in Massachusetts and beyond, especially in the post-war South.
