Abstract The Federation of Churches and Religious Organizations in Greater Boston was founded in 1910. The goal of the federation was to inform and assist religious and civic organizations in Boston through intelligent and co-operative work on behalf of the spiritual, social, and economic interests of the community. In 1917, it would be renamed to simply The Greater Boston Federation of Churches. At its peak, the federation had membership from nine different denominations and various social groups....

Halifax, Mass. Congregational Church records, 1734-1932.

Abstract

A Congregational church was officially formed in Halifax in 1734, with 53 founding members. A second meeting house was built in 1852. In 1842 a Ladies Sewing Circle was organized and continued to be central to church life. The Halifax Congregational Church is now a member of the United Church of Christ, and continues to serve the community today. This collection consists of early administrative records for the Congregational Church and the associated parish in Halifax.

Abstract Gordon Hall was a missionary to India who was from Tolland, Massachusetts. While in India he met Margaret Lewis, who had lived there for over 20 years. They would eventually get married and have four kids together, though only one survived into adulthood. That child, first born Nathan and then Gordon, was a minister who served in Wilton, Connecticut and Northampton, Massachusetts.
