Historical Note

The Brookfield District Association of Congregational Churches and Ministers was established in 1757 and was first called The Association in the Western Part of Worcester County. By 1798, the association used the name Brookfield Association. This name changed in 1821 to The Brookfield Associational Conference and included both ministerial and church participation. The two segments separated to separate organizations from 1887-1913, at which point they were called The Brookfield District Association of Congregational Churches and Ministers. In 1970, it joined the newly formed Central Association, which joined Brookfield, Middlesex Mendon, Middlesex Union, and Worcester Associations.
