Abstract
The Mount Vernon Church was founded in 1842 by a group of enthusiastic lay men and women who felt the need of a church in Boston which would lead in the fight against indifference and Unitarianism. They invited the Rev. Edward Norris Kirk, a famous evangelist, to be their pastor. He spent thirty two years in charge of the church, from 1842 until his death in 1874. Abstract
Rev. T. Thomas Boates received a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological School and a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Boston University School of Theology. Tom was the pastor at the East Baltimore Church of the Nazarene in Baltimore, Maryland, the North Congregational Church in Bedford, Massachusetts, and the First Federated Church in Beverly, Massachusetts.
